Not only are all of the products categorised so they can be viewed independently or collectively, but their respective relationships can also be seen and adjusted as required. At no point if the categorisations change does any relationship break and leave orphaned items, which happened prior to this.
Not only can complex searches of the database be performed but also complex interpage searches can be done allowing the data to be filtered instantly as required. All of this is achieved with an absolute miniumum of eye movements, mouse movements and mouse clicks (including dynamically resizing interface elements to facilitate minimalisation of movement), allowing the management of CN Seeds to go about their business as efficiently as possible. And we still have the design on file, so if you're looking for strikingly original design please get in touch!

The information is loaded below the map in a tabular form (shown in another image) which can be interacted with in order to achieve further insights as required. The UK needed to be broken into a standardised grid and the venues within each respective rectangle loaded when requested. Up to 10,000 venues' data is loaded in less than two seconds and manipulated instantaneously. The draggability and other useful features within the page make analysis simple and fast.

Read moreThe Solution : Sometimes the most obvious things get missed and end up costing businesses a great deal of money. We are very used to double and even triple digit improvements in sales, earnings, clicks and suchlike; so-much-so that they are almost taken for granted. When we manage to get a four figure one we sit up and pay attention. Here is the part that counts, however : this was achieved for a very small business, with a very small budget and absolutely no understanding of marketing, technology or design. In other words it was like treating a crippled child and seeing them get up, throw away their crutches and go out running and jumping in the sunshine. It was very, very pleasing for us, and we were absolutely delighted to do it for them, because it was very easy. It must be nice to be a doctor, eh...? Isn't it time you threw away your crutches? (And if you are wondering why we haven't put a link to the site it's because the business asked us not to, because they didn't want their success copied by their competitors, which is understandable.)
It is important, very important, to be able to deliver original concepts. We specialise is doing clean, simple designs and although they may never see the light of day, they very often offer insights that are of use. Normally, of course, concepts are not put on public display, but of the many we have there are certain ones that we like.

Although the fastest website to pay for itself was two hours we don't promise to do that for yours! We can, however, guarantee that it works flawlessly for the platforms you determine. So often, when looking at sites, we are disappointed to see work which should never have been released, in our opinion, because there are so many parts left incomplete. This is very disappointing. Those are expensive websites. We don't do that. The whole point of customisation is to make as high a return for you on your investment. Nothing less will do. We are pleased to tell you we do it on every project.

All right, we lied, it's actually two. On the front page of the site an interactive panel slides into view allowing each one of up to ten of the latest images to be shown. Two clicks in total.
Director Alex Poupard of Octagon Graphics was very inistent about the site's ease of use and simplicity, knowing that to have an easy to use site is paramount in gaining the possibility of contact from new customers. So often we see that smaller companies have spent vast amounts of money on things which we know will serve no purpose. SEO is one of them, or 'Google optimisation' as it is often called. Read moreThe Solution : Once the information is on the map (shown in another image) any analysis can be performed as required. With huge areas of the UK able to be accessed and analysed for any number of reasons, the key is to be able to perform things quickly. Once the data has been retrieved from the server it can be manipulated, sorted, filtered, duplicated or viewed in any number of ways without ever needing to make a further request to the database. When as many as 10,000 venues take less than two seconds to load, be placed on the map, analysed, filtered, sorted and remain completely interactive as required, it is a fast solution to a potentially difficult problem.
The beauty of this approach is that it is not limited to hospitality. It can be used for any business that uses geograhpic locations, such as Estate Agency, allowing anyone to analyse or display anything that is required.

Read moreThe Solution : The fastest ecommerce website in the world relies on some simple changes. When CN Seeds (which sell principally to wholesalers and growers) brought us their visual design and said they wanted to implement some complex functionality that no other company had been able or willing to do we were delighted. Designing a system so their data was manageable, flexible and adaptable involved several challenges. These were all dealt with one at a time. Once the data had been broken into shape we started to engineer the site, with constant testing amongst willing clients. All of them said the most important thing was the ability to find things quickly, because they were very busy people with little or no time to waste.
The first of the simple changes we mentioned, is the use of buttons to update the cart's totals : they were removed. Use of the server for adding things to the cart was also removed. All cookies were removed. All server sessions were removed. None of them are needed. All searches are instant and can be changed as needed to utilize any chosen data. Of course there are the usual checks to ensure there has been to tampering with the data. The most important thing is that the users are very appreciative, which has resulted in a worldwide increase in clients of 48%. And they are repeat customers, which are the best type to have of course. Visit the Site

The site is not reliant on Google or any other search engine for traffic. Director Alex Poupard said that almost all of their clients are Mac based design businesses and the requirement for mobile and tablet based solutions was not a requirement at all. The Problem : To solve the direct marketing problem and reduce costs. The Solution : Using a powerful PDF solution for two uses... Read moreThe Solution : Using a powerful PDF solution for two uses allowed RS Hygiene to solve the problem. Firstly we took their database of over 5,000 farmers and allowed them to add as many criteria for sorting and filtering as they required. Once that had been done they were then able to target any business with either a direct marketing letter, or email information as required. This meant that no longer are they stuck with 'bulk' mail as a means of contacting clients. They can target specific businesses for specific requirements. But not only can they do it for themselves, they can also offer the service to their own wholesalers, thereby extending the power of the uniquely flexible PDF solution. This flexible, powerful solution was delivered in within 72 hours from start to finish, meaning that it went from conception to the hands of the postman in less time than it takes a second class letter to be delivered, which is pretty first class, we think you'll agree. We now have three businesses using this method of flexible marketing, with varying capacities between 10 printed letters to over 40,000 emails. All of them are reporting a huge saving in both time and expense.
Good day and welcome to our site... please enjoy a very good day. If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to Contact Us.
Your business is the reason you are thinking of contacting a website company, right? If that is the case you will be comforted to know we live and die by what we produce in the way of website code, design and marketing.
Business sites have one function : to directly or indirectly assist in making money. That's it.
Being able to apply our knowledge to your business gives you an additional advantage over your competitors, but in getting to understand what it is you are trying to achieve with your site/marketing means we may be able to bring additional benefits. Depending on the size of your business the amount of time it takes to really understand what is required varies, but it is always time well spent.
As a small, specialised team of people we have worked in the hospitality sector for years, across all parts of it (from suppliers to venues, from jobs to booking engines, from photography to copywriting) we have a highly specialised and unique set of insights into business and businesses. Because the hospitality sector is so dynamic and with such variety, it gives us exposure to literally hundreds of different types of businesses. This counts.
There are always a few, simple objectives which are common to all business websites, but the for us the main one is that your business website is our business. And it works.
One thing we are not is a jumble of multiple factions and disciplines all fighting for resources and attention, with no in-depth expertise in what we do. We do web design and marketing : that is all.
The role of Consultancy was thrust upon us by associates who were kind enough to recommend our expertise to others. It is now part of our ongoing offering. It was and is very gratifying to have third parties seek our opinions.
Sometimes it's wiser to say nothing than to tell people what they knew but didn't want to admit.
We are very happy to assist wherever we think we are able, and if we cannot we are pleased to recommend those companies and/or individuals who can be of use.
We are also pleased to say that select companies are turning to us to train their staff in programming techniques. Such is the interest in the methods we utilize journalists have requested us to allow them to write articles. We declined : we are a small business, not in need of any special attention for what we do. (But we were very flattered.)
?Did you know that for every pound spent by P2Design's clients they have earnt over £28? If that were not impressive enough they have also saved thousands of hours of work. That is not good enough for us, however, and this is why we introduced some new code into our core engines. This means that things now get done 20% faster. Even better. Development of code and concepts is ongoing.
User Interface Design
What it looks like is only part of the job. We have a technique which measures the number of mouse movements, eye movements and mouse clicks in order to achieve a highly focused objective. This means that the back-end user gets a massively optimised working environment on administration pages, and the consumer gets easy to use and great functioning pages on the front-end. We have the flexibility, as determined by each client, to make all websites operate like apps or just as straightforward web pages. The choice is yours.
Worse is better. Occasionally the best sites are the ugliest : knowing the market is key.
We admire graphic design that works. When we are asked (as we often are) to implement functionality into the visual designs of others, we notice again and again that the sites that work are the simple, clear and clean ones. This is good. But there are always exceptions.
Sometimes a very controlled palette is required, sometimes something a little more creative, but it always has to perform a function and that function is to drive your business. Driving your business, whether it be sales of product or services, or making you appear credible in a crowded marketplace are all important functions of graphic design.
We decided not to entitle this part "Copywriting" because the copy is really designed to do a job. It is difficult to stress too strongly the importance of good copy on your website. Any mistakes are punished regularly, thoroughly, forcibly and expensively. We ensure the copy is correctly written, structured and gets your message across effectively. Every minute that is spent working on good copy is like money in the bank. It pays for itself time and time again, and of course, when considered it is very easy to see why : people like good, clear information. If it were possible we would make a machine do the copywriting, however, it remains a purely human task. We have been doing it for fifteen years.
This means your site's visitors respond consistently and predictably -- well, almost. Nothing, after all, is guaranteed to work perfectly by converting every visitor into a customer!
Engineering matters. Engineering is the reason that when you interact with our site on a desktop device you get a fluid environment. Yes, it resizes dynamically. Yes, the content is picked dynamically. Yes, the pauses on each image are calculated based on the amount of time taken to read the words beneath. Yes, it's possible to change the images in three different ways. Yes, you can click, drag, mouseroll or use the keyboard to select the headings. Yes, it knows which device it's on. That is engineering, and is applied to every single part or every design we ever do. That is why big and small enterprises hire us, so the engineering is designed in the heart, not just added after.
It may not be obvious, but that is the point of engineering surely?
?Did you know that after extensive research and years of experience Drayton Bird learnt some things which almost all pure designers ignore - at your expense. The reason is simple : what we may all think is effective design is very often not, when put into the real world of commerce. The sixty four thousand dollar question of course is : Why? That is why you hire us of course. We know the answer.
Keep it Short & Simple
This is not a super short explanation, but it is simple! Keeping things simple is a religious mantra extended to all aspects of everything we do. Why? It makes sense for everyone.
We keep everything simple and straightforward (and remember even the most complex things when broken down are fairly simple). This approach ensures substantial returns on your investment.
We like more of less and less of more, but only when they are bad things, not good. Good is what you get...
"Time is money", to quote Benjamin Franklin, and although he said it over two hundred years ago absolutely nothing has changed since then.
KiSS is nice isn't it?
No one likes losing. So we guarantee your site pays for itself or your money back. In full. Simple.
?Occram' Razor is important for you. Whichever one of the versions you choose (Keep it Short and Simple or Keep it Simple, Stupid) we all know that simple things are, other things being equal, generally better than complex ones. For example we use the concept in code to remove the Conditional Statement, thereby saving 100% of the overhead with no loss of functionality. The benefit for you is that the KiSS approach saves substantial amounts of your time and money.
We have a broad and deep range of clients from the very, very small to the very, very large. Due to legal and technical restrictions approximately 90% of P2Design's work is not available for public display. However, we are able to give an inexhaustive list of companies who have used, or are using, our code, website or marketing solutions.

The technologies we utilize include :
We are always happy to work with professional designers and agencies who are in a need of help to facilitate a solution for their clients.
We are very pleased to say that the majority of our work comes through recommendation by clients who have enjoyed the benefits of our contributions.
We do have a few areas in which we like to operate (hospitality and ecommerce are two), but whatever your business activities may be we can help you to utilize your website/application to the maximum. You may rest assured that no business accrues a list of clients as diverse as P2Design's without that being true.
Lastly, we do not specify the size of business for which we undertake projects. We have worked for the smallest business entity to the very largest. In short we enjoy what we do. (You wouldn't want a business that did the work solely for money, would you? No, of course you don't.)
?All of our Clients have clients. To be really successful the best designs always, without exception, take account of the end user. This means the person who is the last link in the chain determines what is and what is not successful. It's best seen when differentiting between adults and four year olds. Quite simply they are world's apart. No one would design a site for four year olds the same as one for adults, unless they wanted complete failure.
• Firstly we listen to what you say you need or want. • Secondly we prepare some web design and marketing concepts and present them to you. • Thirdly, after a period for you to make additions and changes (because that always happens) we then start the work. This is done in stages depending on the size of the job. • Lastly we put a beta site live for you to test and then, after some time where we tweak the design and functionality (seventy three tweaks is our current maximum), the website/marketing goes live.
You'll like our System of doing things, because we do the work and you don't. You just take the credit.
The site then goes into a period of extensive and sustained review. This is the crucial part, because only when it is live can it be seen how users (both front-end and back-end) are responding. Obviously the more complex the site is the longer this takes, but don't forget that most sites (even multi-thousand page ones) are less than five or ten pages with which the user interacts. Remember the Keep it Short and Simple?
The more heavyweight they are the better we like them. If you have thirty or forty items to sell, it is probable you don't need a full ecommerce system, just a few great looking pages which entice users to buy. If, on the other hand, you have more than that (there is no upper limit) then you need something bigger. There are lots of systems that offer ready-made ecommerce capability (Magento, Actinic, Cubecart etc.) from which to choose.
However, there is a problem : when businesses use them they invariably find lots of irritating limitations. This is where we step into the fray. Customised solutions save vast amounts of time, money and waste. That, however, is only half the story. The real benefit is keeping the customer happy, because they recommend the site (your site, your business) to others (which is the best marketing you can have). Wholesale systems are always a delight because we know they are used regularly and repeatedly, and no matter how often they are used they always please. We know this because we have been told by clients, which is gratifying in the extreme.
Content Management Systems
Not every site has or needs a CMS. For those that do they are custom built every time. They utilize key components, of course, but the parts with which the users interact and which do the hard work always need to be customised. We enjoy doing this part. Once our minimisation techniques have been implemented jobs which personnel considered chores are breezed through by them in moments.
The best systems are the ones that no one knows about : because they are automatic.
For example, how is it possible to have over 100,000 items instantly sorted, filtered and updated every time a key is pressed, with no database or spreadsheet being used? It is always interesting to see how complex problems are brought down to size by injecting intelligence. Just one of the very, very unusual jobs our software can perform.
?Whichever System you are choosing to talk about, that System in itself is composed of sub-systems and is itself a sub-system, so it makes sense to be very, very clear about exactly what is being spoken of before getting too obsessed with the idea of Systems. We only really have three, and they are listed here. One defines the job and the other two help to deliver it. Simple.
Questions & Answers
Q Is P2Design a specialist web design business? Yes, P2Design is a specialist. We do web design and web development for marketing purposes. If you want paperwork and cards and suchlike we don't do these things. You wouldn't ask a dog to be a cat after all would you. We do website design, development and marketing. That is all. However, if you would like someone to handle the design of paper-oriented media we are more than happy to recommend some designers.
Q Can P2Design guarantee to make my site the best on the web for my type of business? This is not a question with a real answer because the web is an ever-changing and evolving environment.
Q Does P2Design do Search Engine Optimisation when constructing a site? Yes. Google, the principal Search Engine, now uses a different technique for delivering results, which means that every user gets a unique set of results that are tailored to the individual machine (and user). With the more recent implementation of https in Chrome and Firefox removing a substantial part of the information from search queries things are likely to only get more difficult. This makes old perceptions of Search Engine Optimisation largely misplaced at best, and misleading at worst. In short all websites are built with Search Engines in mind, so if you want something that can be found you can rely on us to do it.
Q How many websites does P2Design create a year? Ideally we handle four to five main sites a year; but we handle other smaller jobs in addition to that.
Q Does P2Design's list of companies using their work mean anything? No. It means nothing. You would be well-advised to judge us on our ability to assist you, not by looking at a list of others who have used or are using our services.
Q Does P2Design do what are called Responsive sites? Yes, P2Design does them, but with a twist. What normally happens is that the content of the screen alters as the user resizes the screen. Ours do this of course (when we are asked to do so), but we add a few extras which are completely hidden and totally transparent. The purpose is to reduce the amount of power being consumed by the browser so the user's battery lasts as long as possible and increases the speed of rendering.
?Even though there are more Questions than Answers we try to make sure we answer as many of yours as we can. After small amounts of time, however, trust replaces the need for people to ask why things are done in certain ways and they just let us do what needs to be done in order to make them profits. Which is nice, of course.
